Chilkat Environmental characterized and cleaned up a floor drain routed to a failed oil water separator and dispelled to a groundwater injection well.  This included a couple rounds of sampling, excavation under a building and groundwater monitoring.  This was not fun.

Unfortunately, this situation is very common for older tank farms, gas stations and service stations.  Even if separators work correctly, they cannot scrub out the water-soluble fraction.  This injects hazardous chemicals into the groundwater table.  Chilkat has designed and implemented separators backed up by our unique low flow / high aeration GAC treatment system.  Our system has proven zero detectable Diesel in effluent despite that the source water contained significant raw product.
