Elders in Atka told of buried drums in their village dating back to WW2.  EPA funded investigation in 2011 but the contractor failed to identify the buried drums. Elders remained concerned until APIA contracted Chilkat to investigate under the NALEMP.  Upon arrival Elijah requested presence of village elders who promptly pointed to the location of the buried drums as confirmed with heavy equipment. The site was then delineated and sampled. Cleanup of the site is planned for 2015.
