Native Village of Eklutna NALEMP – Army Drum Dump Remediation

 

Chilkat Environmental staff has been supporting the NVE NALEMP program since 2000.  In 2010 Chilkat Environmental excavated over 168 mostly full drums abandoned by DOD in the 1960’s.  Drums contained various hazardous materials such as solvents, tar and paint. Contaminated soil cleanup actions were conducted in 2011-2012 and in 2013 a monitoring well was installed.  Well results and additional soil sampling for TCE produced clean results used to determine site closure.
